The Powered by You fitness movement empowers young people by encouraging healthy lifestyles and targeting issues such as obesity (the number one most preventable cause of death and disease in America).  The Powered by You fitness movement uses the power of sports marketing, high profile and quality amateur sports, recreational events and activities that bring new participants to athletics, health mentors, corporate wellness and partnerships with existing programs to accomplish its goals.

The focus in 2009 is to reach young people through the SUBWAY Washington Games (June-July 2009). The program began in Washington, but is designed to be portable geographically, demographically and across multiple health initiatives.

The Seattle Sports Commission (SSC) created the Powered by You fitness movement as a community service to promote healthy lifestyles to young people in Washington.

Your Opportunity
Sponsors of the Powered by You fitness movement will be front and center at the SUBWAY Washington Games, one of the largest planned events to help fight youth obesity. This is an opportunity for businesses to use cause marketing to brand themselves in association with saving the lives of children.

September N.F.L. Healthy Tip
Whether you like a chicken pot pie or a blueberry pie everyone has at least a little bit of a sweet tooth. But Parents Magazine, September
2009, says sometimes our cravings can get us into trouble.

• A Hostess Cherry Fruit Pie has 480 calories, 20 grams of fat and 33 grams of sugar. Folks, that’s over 8 teaspoons!

Healthy Tip: Go home and eat some cherries.
